sick baby boy

Our boy has been sick these past couple of days. He has a weird cough with heavy wheezing which indicates an upper respiratory infection as he has had one before. He has been very clingy with me all weekend. He just wants mommy's lap these days. He went in to the vet today to get his antibioitics in him so he can start feeling better soon.

As dog parents, we need to keep a watchful eye over our dogs. Like, I could have ignored the coughing/wheezing and thought it was just allergies. The clinginess can be a bit much at times, but I could tell from his behavior that he hasn't been feeling well.

We need to listen to them through their actions and make sure we get them the medical attention they need before small coughs or aches and pains become a big problem. The good thing about Massimo is that he is so outspoken about how he's feeling. He will not hesitate to let you know :)

"A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, big or small, young or old. He doesn't care if you're not smart, not popular, not a good joke-teller, not the best athlete, nor the best-looking person. To your dog, you are the greatest, the smartest, the nicest human being who was ever born. You are his friend and protector..." -Marly & Me

My recommendation is to search on Petfinders.com or other sources where you can find purebreeds who need homes! Why break the bank?!

The purpose of this blog

Please, meet the purpose of this blog. His name is Massimo, and he walked into our lives on March 19, 2011 and turned our world upside down! In a good way! Massimo came to us from an animal shelter in Pennsylvania, and he has been bringing so much happiness into our lives since!

My goal is to make this blog a place for all of us animal lovers to enjoy. I want it to be a wonderful resource for those who would like to learn more about pet adoptions, and a place to share great stories of happy endings for these four-legged friends who are in search of homes. I also look forward to sharing lots of delicious doggy treat recipes and ideas to love on your four-legged friends and pamper them!

Please please please always consider a shelter pet before a pet shop. There are so many wonderful animals out there who are so eager to bring joy into our homes if given the opportunity.

So sit back and enjoy!
